How to check a website before accepting it from the contractor?

Published: 2026-09-22Updated: 2026-10-022 minKrzysztof Jaroński

Acceptance is not “does it look nice on the vendor’s laptop”. It is checking that the site works on your phone, collects enquiries, has useful content, can be maintained, and that support scope is clear.

Contents

Phone

Open the site on your own phone: usable menu, visible offer and CTA, tappable phone/email, no overlapping buttons, stable layout while images load.

Forms

Send a real test submission from phone and desktop. Confirm validation, success message, actual delivery to inbox/CRM, correct auto-replies, and that anti-spam is not blocking normal users.

Content

Can a visitor tell what the company does in seconds? Do service pages describe scope, audience and next step? No placeholders? Correct company details? Authentic testimonials published with consent?

Indexing

Unique titles, one meaningful H1, sitemap ready for Search Console, no accidental noindex on offer pages, redirect map if migrating. See Google's Get on Google. This is technical readiness, not a ranking promise.

Access

Hosting/platform, DNS/registrar, code export if agreed, CMS, Search Console and analytics ownership on the company side, credentials in the company password manager.

Domain

Valid HTTPS, consistent www/non-www without loops, email still working after DNS changes, documented records.

Analytics

Configured tool after consent, tested form/phone events, consent banner as agreed, owner access for the company.

Support

Written warranty window, bug vs new feature, response time for form outages, who updates content/dependencies, optional uptime monitoring.
